my utopia is a place where:

1) no borders, no states, all that stuff

2) literally all blueprints to everything are open source, meaning that with enough time and an internet connection i can turn a pile of sand into an actual industrial strength processor

3) catboys are real

secondary motivation is to build stuff myself so I don't have to shell out like $1000 to have a reasonably good time with digital modes on HF.

While I'm unloading my brain, I also got a Powell's gift card from an uncle. Promptly snagged more ham radio books! While I'm not very interested in the people, the technology involved is fascinating and I really hope to design and build Cool Stuff ™ to use with it.

musing about jobs

Probably the biggest obstacle for me, then, is that I was often taught to stay quiet and out of the way. I don't really know how to tell a story, so I write things in a really dry way and there's a bit of a mental block to it.

I think if I can document my next couple projects they could make a good start, no matter how I write it.

musing about jobs

I could do something like writing for blogs or articles. I have the capability to do so, and I'm sure I can make media that people would enjoy, but I'm bot completely sure where I would start on that. Generally, as far as I've seen, a person should have a portfolio or blog to show before finding work in writing.

musing about jobs

On the one hand, it seems nice because I wouldn't be straining my body. On the other, overworking myself to maintain a solid income would suck, and building up a solid income in the first place is slow.

y'all
I fucking miss eavesdropping in public places. I love hearing snatches of people's lives and interactions and short stories that will never be explained.

HELP I started reading shitty romance again

pleroma?

So before making a Mastodon account here, I had been trying to set up a single-user instance of Pleroma on a Raspberry Pi for myself. I decided it might be best to take a peek at the Fediverse first and holy shit. Pleroma has the worst reputation.

I guess I'll ditch the selfhosting idea until I can afford something to run Mastodon, or until I can trim it down enough.

I'm lucky enough to have an amazing partner who helps me when my pain flares up! So today's been chill.

just boosting some good takes and relatable feels tonight
